Barangay Barra is a locality in Opol, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. ==History== Previously, Barra was a part of Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City. As a sitio, it was named Barra, lying west of the Iponan river. This strip of land, now a Barangay, extends from the National Highway in the South and of Macajalar Bay in the North. Then sitio Barra became a formal Barangay of the municipality of Opol, Misamis Oriental by virtue of Republic Act No. 524 promulgated on June 15, 1950. This Barangay is about five kilometers away from Cagayan de Oro City and has a land area of about 285 hectares and composed of ten zones. The delta of the Iponan River protruding to the sea broke down strong waves and during stormy weather and typhoons fishermen sought refuge on the Iponan riverbanks where logs and various typhoon debris also sprawls along the river. This served as a barrier from the turbulent waves and gusty winds, hence, the old folks named this place as Barra. From then on, the population of the Barangay has been steadily increasing which at the latest NSO survey in 2007 has a population of more or less 14,000 inhabitants. In the past, Barangay Barra was led by a Cabeza de Barangay which evolved into Barangay Captain, and under RA 7160 of 1991 as Punong Barangay. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Barra, Misamis Oriental」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
